UFC on ESPN: Hermansson vs. Vettori Picks

Picks and Betting Lines for UFC on ESPN: Hermansson vs. Vettori

Shawn Craymen

It’s been an interesting couple weeks for my UFC picks. I haven’t gotten a single fight wrong in weeks but that’s mostly due to key fighters getting COVID-19 and having to drop out of fights. I really urge everyone to stay safe, stay indoors, watch the fights this weekend, read more Hounder articles, and scroll through our TikTok. This is another one of those so-so fight night cards that are nothing to write home about but have some solid picks, hopefully none drop out at the last minute.

Gian Villante vs. Jake Collier

I want to preface what I’m about to say with this; Gian Villante is a good dude. When I’ve seen him on UFC Embedded and other media he seems like a really nice guy and he’s great friends with Chris Weidman who I’m a big fan of. Now in terms of fighting, he’s atrocious. I try not to use negative words with pro athletes because I really have immense respect for everybody who steps inside of the cage but Gian Villante at heavyweight is one of the worst fighters I’ve seen. He lost his last fight due to submission via triangle choke but he was really just so tired he checked out. Collier is a big dude who has some decent striking and throws some nice combinations. How he’s the underdog is beyond me but whatever, more money for me.

Collier: +170

Jack Hermansson vs. Marvin Vettori

This is an extremely fun fight. Vettori is one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC having gone undefeated since losing a split decision to Israel Adesanya. Finally gets the step up in competition he deserves, I think he’s biting off more than he can chew against Hermansson. Both are good grapplers, Hermansson being an excellent grappler. Where Hermansson has struggled in the UFC has been against big power punchers (Thiago Santos, Jared Cannonier) and Vettori doesn’t offer that same threat. While I feel Vettori gets the better of him on the feet, eventually over five rounds Hermansson is going to get it to the ground and earn the submission.

Hermansson: +150
