UFC Fight Night 185: Blaydes vs Lewis Picks

Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis go head to head in a big heavyweight fight

Shawn Craymen

Usually the UFC will follow up a pay per view with a pretty mediocre fight night card but this weekend is not the case. The headliner is a banger between two top heavyweight contenders in Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis. Major title implications are at stake in the headliner and I have major money at stake, let’s get into it.

Drakkar Klose vs Luis Peña

Klose is a tough top 25-ish fighter that can beat anyone any given night. Luis “Violent Bob Ross” Peña is an entertaining and dangerous fighter, but he’s at a big disadvantage here. Fighting up a weight class and on short notice will make it tough for him to put up much resistance to Klose’s calf kicks, clinch work, and heavy hands. Drakkar Noir by decision.

Klose: -170

Curtis Blaydes vs Derrick Lewis

The winner of this heavyweight tilt likely fights the winner of Jon Jones and the winner of the incoming Stipe Miocic/Francis Ngannou title fight. It’s a classic wrestler vs striker match up with Blaydes being the wrestler and Lewis being the striker. Lewis has an uncanny ability to get up when taken down but Blaydes is a different animal. Blaydes is one of the best wrestlers in the entire UFC with seemingly unlimited cardio. Aside from a hail mary knock out, Lewis lacks the tools to answer Blaydes’s take downs.

Blaydes: -450
