The Orlando Magic Have Officially Hit the Reset Button

The Orlando Magic are officially on the Fade for Cade campaign. Sitting at 15-29, it was apparent that Orlando would be big-time sellers at the trade deadline. They shipped out their All-Star center Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, and Evan Fournier.

I like the haul Orlando got overall. They got younger and were able to accumulate a lot of draft capital, which never hurts for a team that's in the middle of a rebuild. Starting with the Vucevic trade, they got a nice young player in Wendell Carter Jr. They also got Otto Porter, along with two first-round picks.

They then traded Evan Fournier to the Celtics for two second-rounders. The Magic get more draft capital while Boston get another offensive piece to their lineup. Lastly, they shipped Aaron Gordon to the Nuggets for Gary Harris, RJ Hampton, and a first-round pick.

This was the right move for the Magic. After making the playoffs the past few years as a low seed, they needed to hit the reset button. It's a great year to do so considering how stacked the draft class is coming in. You got Markelle Fultz, Jonathan Isaac, Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter Jr., and RJ Hampton. That's not a bad young core to have. Add that with a possibility of adding Cade Cunningham, Jalen Suggs, or Evan Mobley. Now we're cooking.

We'll see how Orlando handles the youth movement. Is it finally time for Orlando to build a team that doesn't peak at the eight-seed? We shall see.
