David Dobrik Steps Down From the Board of Dispo as Allegations of Rape From a Former Member of His Vlog Squad Arise

No one likes the friend that ruins the fun.

David Dobrik has parted ways with his disposable camera app, Dispo, after Zeglaitis, also known as Durte Dom allegedly raped a woman. She appeared in a YouTube video on Dobrik’s channel, which was later removed after it received over five million views. Here's Dispo’s official statement on the matter: “David has chosen to step down from the board and leave the company to not distract from the company’s growth.” The woman involved claimed to be too drunk to consent for sex back in 2018 when the incident occurred.

Things got even worse for Dispo when venture capital firm Spark Capital decided to sever ties after its $20 million funding round. People who are outraged with the situation decided to flood the iOS app store with negative reviews, pushing the app down to 2.4 stars.

Multiple companies decided to end their partnerships with Dobrik as news of this came to light, such as HelloFresh, EA Sports, HBO Max, and Dollar Shave Club. Things are going downhill fast for Dobrik, and in an attempt to defend himself, he uploaded this video.

First of all, it's weird to not see Dobrik smiling and laughing. In all seriousness though, he honestly sounds sincere in his apology and his moral obligation for consent in his videos. Although he didn't address the rape charges directly, he said how he has cut ties with friends in the past because he doesn’t stand for misconduct.

To me, this sounds like it was mostly Zeglaitis’s fault. He was the one accused of sexual misconduct, not Dobrik. Unless there is something else going on here, this whole situation sounds like it’s a case where the friend fucked up and affected everyone around him. Dobrik is paying the price for the actions of his dumbass friend who couldn’t keep it in his pants. If there's a lesson to be learned here, it's to watch who you hangout with cause they might just end your career.
